In March of 2008, Women for Women International released The 2008 Iraq Report: Amplifying the Voices of Women in Iraq as part of their "Stronger Women Stronger Nations" report series.  For this report, Women for Women International gathered information from 1,513 Iraqi women about their perceptions of the economic, social and political issues that affect Iraq.

Sample of the findings:

-85.0% of respondents described the situation in Iraq as bad or very bad, and 88.8% expressed a great deal of concern.

-71.2% of respondents said they do not feel protected by US/UK soldiers and 65.3% of respondents said that, overall, the presence of US/UK security forces in Iraq is making security in the country worse.

-63.9% of respondents stated that violence against women is increasing. When asked why, respondents most commonly said that there is less respect for women's rights than before, that women are thought of as possessions, and that the economy has gotten worse.
