2,500 stars with messages of individual statements and commitments for stopping violence against women. The stars are red, white, and blue - the colors on the Liberia flag. Staff, leaders, volunteers, and clients from 49 community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, UN agencies, and government ministries participated in creating individual stars with their personal statements of commitment.
The display is in the front of the main hospital in Monrovia, which is on a busy road so many people have the opportunity to see it and walk through the installation. At the end of the campaign, the stars will be distributed to police stations, health centers, and NGO/CBO offices in Monrovia for office decoration.
This 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence activity was organized by ARC (American Refugee Committee) Liberia and funded by UNIFEM, IRC, MERLIN and the Liberia Ministry of Gender and Development.
